Online payments from the guest phone

How "Pay now" works on the guest order page, what makes a payment real, and the counter fallback.

What the guest sees

  • An unpaid order page shows Pay ₹X now — the outstanding amount, live.
  • After a successful payment the badge turns Paid; before that it reads Pay at counter.
  • Guests can always settle at the counter instead — every bill can be collected at the till (Collect a bill).

What makes a payment real

A payment is marked Paid in RestoQR only after the payment gateway's signature verification succeeds on the server. Nothing else flips it: not the guest saying "I paid", not a bank SMS, not a screenshot. This is deliberate — it is what stops a failed or faked payment from walking out as settled.

Careful

Train staff to trust the app, not the story. If the order page and your till say unpaid, the bill is unpaid until verified — follow Payment pending when the guest insists money left their account.

Availability

Online checkout uses the restaurant's configured gateway (Razorpay setup). Your RestoQR onboarding contact confirms when live online checkout is switched on for your restaurant; until then, and for any payment trouble, the counter flow covers every bill. Test environments simulate the gateway so you can rehearse the flow safely.
