Stock quantity is incorrect
The system says one number, the shelf says another. Reconcile with the ledger, then adjust with a reason.
What is the problem?
The "On hand" figure disagrees with the physical count — by a little (drift) or a lot (a missed delivery, a wrong unit).
Why it can happen
- Wastage or spillage not logged (see Wastage).
- A delivery received outside the system (no Receive posted).
- Wrong unit on a receive or adjust (10 kg entered as 10 g).
- Items consumed without recipe lines (Stock not deducting).
How to fix it
- Count the physical stock now, in the base unit.
- Open the ledger and scan the last few days for surprises — a wrong-unit line is obvious once you see it.
- Post an Adjust for the difference with an honest reason ("Physical count 18/09").
- Fix the cause, not just the number: log the wastage habit, receive deliveries properly, correct the recipe.
What NOT to do
Do not
- Do not adjust first and investigate later every time — recurring adjustments with the same reason are a process bug wearing a disguise.
- Do not delete ledger history to "clean up" — it cannot be, by design.
How you know it is fixed
On hand equals the physical count, the ledger explains the correction, and the next count stays close.
Still not working?
If the ledger itself looks wrong (a move you cannot explain or a balance that does not add up), do not adjust around it — contact RestoQR support with the item name and a screenshot of the ledger.
