"You don't have access" (Access denied)
A screen says your role doesn't include it. What that means, who can change it, and why it is not a bug.
What happened?
You opened a section and got: "You don't have access — your role doesn't include permission to view this. Ask an owner or manager if you need it." Sometimes the sidebar simply never showed the section at all — same reason.
Why it happens
RestoQR shows each person only what their role's permissions allow — and the server enforces the same set on every request. A waiter never sees an Inventory link that would fail; a cashier does not get Settings. It is not a bug and not a glitch — it is the access model working.
How to fix it
- Check what your role includes by default: Roles and permissions.
- If the capability is genuinely part of your job, ask an owner or manager — they can grant the single permission on your account (Fine-tune permissions). Changes apply on your next click, no re-login.
- If the message names a permission (e.g. "Requires permission: billing.close"), quote that exact line to the owner — it says precisely what is missing.
Not the same as "isn't in this plan"
If the notice says a module isn't in this plan, that is the restaurant's subscription, not your role — see Module not in plan.
What NOT to do
Do not
- Do not sign in as a colleague with a bigger role to get something done — every action is audited per account, and borrowing an owner login is how discounts and voids become unexplainable.
How you know it is fixed
After the grant, the section opens on your next click — no re-login needed, nothing cached stale.
Still not working?
If an owner granted the permission and the section still refuses, note the exact permission name from the message and contact RestoQR support.
